we are standing with Ukraine and working to support Ukrainians in Brighton and Hove areas
24 February 2022 changed our lives once and for all. That day, russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and we could not stay aside.
We formed a community group with charitable aims to support the local Ukrainian community of Brighton and Hove and promote Ukrainian culture and history.
In June 2025, Stand for U became a registered charity

It has been over 4 years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Brighton Ukrainian community and many allies gathered together on February 21st, reminding us all that the war is not over and must not become the forgotten war. Ukraine has suffered too much, and its people too.

On Saturday evening, the Deputy Mayor joined Stand for U and members of Brighton & Hove’s Ukrainian community to mark the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The moving event at the Unitarian Church was followed by a visit to the striking memorial and candlelit vigil in Victoria Gardens.
